BatFi Privacy Policy
BatFi Privacy Policy
This is the privacy policy of BatFi, an app for Mac by micropixels. This website has its own policy.
Last updated 17 October 2026.
BatFi has no account, no ads and no tracking. Your charge limit, schedules and settings stay on your Mac. BatFi connects to the internet for crash reports, which you can turn off, for your licence and for updates.
Crash reports
BatFi can send crash and error reports to Sentry, a crash reporting service, so we can find and fix problems. You choose whether it does in BatFi's settings, under General, with "Send crash reports". In beta versions it is always on.
A report contains what went wrong and what BatFi was doing just before, for example the charge limit it applied, the battery's temperature or an error message, and how long some of its tasks took. It also contains your Mac's model, its macOS version, BatFi's version and a random identifier for this copy of BatFi, so we can tell whether a problem happens once or keeps coming back. It contains no name, email address or serial number. Sentry may also record the IP address a report came from. Sentry stores the reports in the United States.
Your licence
You buy BatFi through Gumroad, which handles the payment and sends your licence key. When you enter the key, BatFi sends it with your Mac's serial number to our licence server, which checks the key with Gumroad. BatFi checks the licence again about every ten days.
The server keeps your licence key with the email address and name it was bought with, and, for each Mac that uses it, the Mac's serial number, the IP address the request came from and the date, to count how many Macs use one licence. These are kept until you ask us to delete them. The server runs on Heroku, in the United States. It also writes each check to its log, at times with the email address and name of the purchase, and Heroku keeps that log only briefly, for at most a week.
The licence BatFi receives, with the name and email address of the purchase, is kept in your Mac's keychain.
Updates
BatFi checks for updates by downloading a list of versions from files.micropixels.software, which Cloudflare serves for us, and plays the videos in its welcome screens from there. The update check says which version of BatFi you have and sends nothing about your Mac.
